ONE PURPOSE OF OUR LIVES HERE ON EARTH
Matthew 5:13–16 (NLT) “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. in the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
We have many purposes to remain in this world after salvation. One is to be salt. Salt holds back the decay as well as makes people thirsty. The church is the pillar and support of the truth (1 Timothy 3:15). We do not give way before sin and corruption. We hold the line and make people want the truth just by encountering us. We are the light of the world: We are joined with other lights on the great lampstand of the local church (Revelation 2:5; Matthew 5:15). We are never to be little insignificant lights hidden away. We are a beacon of light to those in the darkness.
